As you might expect, I didn’t grab a wink of sleep that night. I kept tossing and turning feeling like my entire world had turned upside down. Periodically, my hand kept going to my belly, thankfully there was no existent bump yet – not like Bella in Twilight but I couldn’t get over the fact that there was something different in my body compared to the organs which had been there for years. I got up early the next day and tried to think calmly about what I needed to do.
Automatically, I sought help from a dear friend who has never let me down so far – Google! I needed to know the answer to that most important question, what should I do next? With shaky fingers and a thumping heart I typed my query in the search engine…the answer came back almost immediately. Visit a GP and do a blood test to confirm you really are pregnant.
OK, I said to myself, baby steps…one thing at a time. This much used, loved phrase suddenly took on a whole different connotation. Gosh, how I adopted that lingo quickly! That in itself confirmed that I, a married, previously only part of a couple took my first baby step…into the baby world. ‘Oh no!’ I screamed out silently…wondering in trepidation..what would come next?
